The facility was expanded five times over the next twenty years—changing ownership a few times along the way. By 2003, Seafreeze had discontinued its own food processing operations to focus on warehousing support for multiple on-site seafood and food processing companies. In 2008, Toyo Suisan Kaisha (a Japanese food conglomerate), sold the facility to Bay Grove Capital in the firm’s first deal in the warehousing and logistics space.

  CityIce’s cold storage roots go back as far as 1904. Over the years the business changed and moved several times before settling on the Port of Seattle’s Terminal 91. The terminal was the perfect location to serve its customers in the seafood industry—allowing large commercial trawlers to offload their catch directly into CityIce’s dockside facilities. In 2009, CityIce became a key piece of Lineage’s network in the Pacific Northwest when it was sold to Bay Grove Capital by its former owner Jack Rosling.

Columbia Colstor was founded by the McGraw family in 1983 with a single facility in Quincy, Washington supporting Eastern Washington’s robust agricultural region. Bob Murphy and his sister, Marilyn Gourley, founded Murphy Overseas in 1985 as a customs broker in the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. The company would expand operations to the Ports of Tacoma and Hueneme—supporting many of the cold storage port facilities that have since become a part of the Lineage facility network. Murphy Overseas was acquired by Lineage in 2014 and today its freight forwarding and customs brokerage operations are critical services provided to our customers in ports across the United States.

Loop Cold Storage began operations in San Antonio in 1963 to support founder Bill Conway’s peanut seed business. Since the 1980’s, Loop has served as a leading provider of refrigerated warehousing, transportation and repackaging services in the US-Mexican fruit and vegetable trade. To accommodate the growth in the frozen food sector, Loop expanded its facilities eight times over a 20-year period. Loop Cold Storage was acquired by Lineage in 2014.

Millard Refrigerated Services was established by Larry Larsen in 1963 with the construction of a cold storage warehouse facility in Omaha, Nebraska. By the late 1990’s, Millard had grown its national distribution center chain of facilities into numerous major population areas across the United States and provided a wide variety of value-added food logistics services including transportation, High Pressure Processing and food manufacturing. The Larsen family sold the business to Lineage in 2014.

Castle & Cooke Cold Storage (CCCS) was formed in 2008 through the combination of Inland Cold Storage (ICS) and Madison Warehousing making it a national leader in warehousing logistics with facilities in California, the Midwest and East Coast. Owned by David H. Murdock and Bill and Paul Hendricksen, CCCS operated facilities in California, the Midwest and East Coast—primarily serving food retailers and distributors—and specialized in dedicated facility management and providing complete logistics solutions for Fortune 500 companies. Lineage acquired CCCS in 2012—with Bill and Paul Hendricksen respectively serving as Lineage’s CEO and President/COO from 2012-2015.

Richmond Cold Storage was founded in 1907 and began operating a facility encompassing 1 million cubic feet in Richmond, VA. The company was purchased in 1949 by Frank Laughon Sr. with his son Frank “Pepper” Laughon, Jr. taking over management in the mid-1960s. Between 1976 and 2008, the company grew to include more than 57 million cubic feet of warehouse space in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. Bay Grove Capital purchased RCS in 2011—making the company’s facilities the keystone of Lineage’s mid-Atlantic and Southeast operations.

Terminal Freezers was founded in 1984 by Lowell Dayton and Gale Bernik, with Lowell’s brother David joining them soon after. Terminal initially built and operated a facility in Salem, OR, but over the years grew to include additional locations in California, Oregon and Texas. Over the next forty years, Yearsley grew to be the largest cold chain logistics provider in the United Kingdom and the fourteenth largest globally. By the time Yearsley was acquired by Lineage in 2018, the company had twelve facilities across the United Kingdom, a transportation fleet of more than 300 vehicles and a robust frozen food business.

Consolidated Distribution Corporation (CDC) was founded in 1990. Over the next thirty years, CDC would become the largest independent multi-concept foodservice supply chain solutions provider and redistribution company in the United States. Through its remarkable growth, CDC’s robust re-distribution operation evolved to serve the retail and manufacturing industries, as well as the foodservice franchisors and purchasing cooperatives of the nation’s most recognizable restaurant brands. CDC officially joined the Lineage family in August 2016.
